意大利卡塔尼亚, 11月11日－欧洲科学周刊近日在布鲁塞尔宣布，卡塔尼亚大学将负责主办２００６年欧洲机器人锦标赛。欧盟机器人锦标到目前为止已经举行了８年，吸引了来自欧盟的２５个成员国的数百名学生参加，同时也吸引了许多来自科技类杂志的记者。每支参赛队伍将要根据不同的要求制造不同的自动机器人来完成比赛内容。明年的锦标赛，也就是２００５年的锦标赛将会在瑞士举行。据组织者的消息，到２００６年，将有来自世界各地的６０支队伍近３００名学生参加比赛。

(AGI) - Catania, Nov. 11 - The University of Catania hosts the European Robotics Championship "Eurobot" for its 2006 edition. Confirmation was given in Brussels during the presentation of the European Science Week of the European Parliament. The application of the University of Catania and its faculty of engineering, represented by Prof. Giovanni Muscato, was officially accepted by the Eurobot association's executive committee, which positively evaluated the university structure's quality, the scientific quality of the faculty of engineering, chaired by Prof. Antonio Recca, of its departments and research centres, the receptiveness of the territory and the presence of a high number of hi-tech enterprises in the area of Catania. Eurobot is a competition taking place since 8 years and involving hundreds of students from the 25 European member states as well as several journalists of the scientific press. Teams of engineering students compete in the construction of completely autonomous robots, which will then have to compete with each other in different competitions. The 2005 edition is held in Switzerland. According to the organizer's forecasts approximately 60 teams for a total of 300 students from all over the world will participate in the 2006 edition. There will also be a workshop on service robotics and a robot exhibition open to the public.
